The Good Person Test
Do you think you’re good enough to get to heaven? Well, let me ask you a couple of questions to see if you are a good person. Have you kept the 10 commandments?
Have you ever lied before?
Have you ever stolen anything before?
Have you ever used the Lord’s name in vain before?
Have you ever looked with lust at someone? Jesus said it is like committing adultery in your heart.
Have you ever been angry with someone? Jesus said it is like committing murder in your heart.
You would have to admit, like all of us, that you have broken some if not all of these and probably several times. Since you have then God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterous, murder at heart.
If God were to judge you by the standard of the 10 commandments, would you be innocent or guilty? Would you go to heaven or to hell?
You see, you are not a good person, you are just like the rest of us. We have all sinned and we all deserve death and hell.
But God demonstrated His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. God punished His own Son so that you could be set free from the penalty of sin and death.
You need to repent of your sin and put your faith and trust in Christ alone to save you. Your goodness cannot save you but His goodness and righteousness can. The Bible says an exchange took place when Jesus died for us. It says ‘He who knew no sin became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him’.
If you will confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Repent and call upon Him today
